Getting to Islay and getting around

Caledonian MacBrayne Ferry from Kennacraig to the ports at either Port Ellen or Port Askaig.  During the summer timetable which runs from end of March to end of October there are five sailings to the island each day and from end of October to end of March there are normally three sailings per day.  It is essential to book well in advance if you are travelling by car.  Caledonian MacBrayne can be contacted for bookings at +44 (0)800 066 5000 or at
Loganair runs the service from Glasgow Airport to Islay Airport and during the summer months there are three flights daily and in the winter months there are two flights daily.  It is essential to book your flights well in advance.  Loganair may be contacted at or +44 (0)344 800 2855.  For customer service at Islay Airport, ring +44 (0)1496 302022.
There is also a service between Islay, Colonsay and Oban on Tuesdays and Thursdays, run by Hebridean Air Services, +44 (0)845 805 7465.
Bus - from Glasgow to Kennacraig
This service is run by Scottish CityLink, and it is advisable to book in advance, especially at busy periods.  Bookings can be made online, or contact the Travel Centre, Buchanan Street Bus Station, Glasgow at +44 (0)141 332 7133.
